About Jeremy Swartz

Jeremy Swartz is a 5th year student at The Pennsylvania State University majoring in Architectural Engineering with a focus on structures.  Jeremy Graduated from Centreville High School in Fairfax VA in 2012 and then attended Penn State Altoona for two years.  Since arriving at the University Park main campus Jeremy has participated in a number of clubs.  His involvement has included the United States Green Building Council (USGBC) student chapter, Structural Engineers Association (SEA) student chapter and the Penn State Crew club.  Jeremy’s expected date of graduation is May 8th 2018.  He plans to graduate with both a Masters and Bachelor of Architectural Engineering and a minor in Architecture.

Over the summers Jeremy has spent time in Rome Italy participating in the study abroad program offered by Penn State.  During the program the architectural and structural styles of the ancient Romans were studied and explored.  Further study of urban development and organization was also studied as part of the program.  Another summer was spent interning at Engineering Consulting Services (ECS), a building inspections firm outside of Washington D.C.  Whilst there Jeremy performed site inspections on building roofing, waterproofing and air membranes for quality assurance.  He also took structural samples and performed structural tests on both old and new buildings.  This internship gave Jeremy a greater understanding of both the structural and non-structural systems of buildings and how they go together.
